Task 4: Final Project

INSTRUCTIONS
Brief:
We need to synthesize the knowledge gained in tasks 1, 2, and 3 for application in this final project. We will integrate visual assets and refine the prototype into a complete, working, and functional product experience.
i) Illustrator Process
I began by illustrating the scenes in Adobe Illustrator, based on the existing storybook, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. In total, I created 14 scenes, each containing multiple layers for later implementation in After Effects.
ii) After Effects Process
I then proceeded to work on the animations by importing the files from Adobe Illustrator and animating them layer by layer. I added fade effects between layer transitions, along with subtitles, voiceovers, and background music that were child-friendly and complemented the storytelling theme.
iii) Audio Creation Process
Once Sophia completed her Figma prototypes, she began working on the audio components for our AR app. Using Adobe Audition, she applied techniques she had picked up from the Sonic Design module, which she’s also taking with Mr. Razif. She recorded her own voiceovers at home and sourced ambient sound effects from Freesound to help build a more immersive audio environment. After editing and exporting the files, she passed them to me, and I added background music to enhance the overall sound experience.
iv) Unity Process
Sophia then moved on to developing the project in Unity. Since all our assets were already prepared, her main task was integrating them and ensuring everything functioned correctly. Before diving into Unity, she spent some time setting up the Vuforia Engine and making sure all the ImageTargets were properly rated and detectable—some had to be fixed as they initially had low star ratings.
Once everything was set, she worked through each part of the app step by step—starting with the Story Selection, followed by the Onboarding sequence, the Quiz section, and finally the AR page. To keep things organized, she separated each part into its own scene (except for the AR one) and added interactive elements like buttons across all scenes. The AR scene itself included placing VideoPlanes and aligning ImageTargets based on the storybook content. After testing the functionality on screen and confirming the AR features were running smoothly, she built the app and tested it directly on her phone via USB.
