Exercise 1 | Production Shoot Video

Equipment demonstration by
Mr. Martin | Week 5 (23/5/24)
In week 5, we had a
replacement class at the
photography studio, where
Mr. Martin showed
different filming
equipment to prepare us
for the actual production
shoot.

Assignment of roles | Week
5 (23/5/24)
Before going back, we
were instructed to choose
our roles for the
production shoot, and I
ended up being the
assistant director and art
director because many
others hesitated to take
on the role.

Assigned role &
responsibilities | Week 5 (23/5/24)
On the same day, Mr.
Martin sent us a
checklist outlining
everyone's roles and
expectations. It wasn't
until I saw the list
that I realized how
difficult the roles I
chose were
(cries).

Shoot Schedule | Week 5
(23/5/24)
I followed Mr. Martin's
instructions to create a
shoot schedule, but I
was unable to recce the
campus because I was
sick that week, so we
ended up having to film
all of the shots at the
photography
studio.

Costumes &
Props | Week 6
(28/5/24)
Before the
shoot, the
actors were
instructed to
find similar
costumes and
props for their
respective
roles: Waymond,
Evelyn, and the
security
guard.
During the editing
process, I began by
adding and cutting clips
as needed, as well as
adding the actors'
dialogue sounds. I also
used a stabilizer effect
in the first scene
because the recording
was a little
shaky. I also sped
up the video for the
fighting scene to make
it appear like a real
and fast fight, as we
told the actors during
the recording process
that slowing down the
punches was fine.

Colour Grading
& Colour
Correction | Week 7
(5/6/24)
After this week's
tutorial class, we
learned how to
colour grade and
colour correct our
video. I
experimented with
the 'basic
correction' section
until I found the
right shade of
colors that were
close to what Mr.
Martin had
instructed us to
use.

Effects | Week 7
(5/6/24)
I created two
video versions,
one without any
additional sound
effects and one
with both the
original movie's
sound effects and
outsourced sound
effects to make it
more
interesting.

Exercise 2 | Insta / Tiktok Video
I began by adding the music and cutting the
clips to ensure that it met the 60-second
requirement, leaving enough space for both the
introduction and the ending.
Once I was satisfied with the arrangement of
the clips, I started colour grading the video
to give it a warm and cozy tone, evoking a
sense of calmness when watched. I also added
some light overlays as transitions for the
video's introduction and ending, which I
thought added a nice subtle touch.
