    REFLECTIONS

    Experience

During this module, I had the opportunity to engage deeply with the process of real research, which proved to be a meticulous yet rewarding journey. From understanding the topic to analyzing existing literature and collecting and interpreting data, each stage required careful attention and effort. This process honed my skills in critical thinking and problem-solving, especially when framing research objectives and synthesizing information. The journey was lengthy and often required significant focus, but it was instrumental in developing my confidence and abilities in conducting structured research. I am especially thankful for Dr. Jinchi’s guidance throughout the assignment, as her suggestions for improving the proposal were invaluable, not just for this assignment but also for future ones.

    Observations

One notable observation from this experience was how research is rarely a straightforward or linear process. It requires adaptability and a willingness to revisit earlier stages to ensure the reliability and comprehensiveness of the final output. Additionally, I observed the significant role of planning and preparation in data collection. While collecting data was not particularly challenging, it became evident that even minor oversights could have significant consequences. The constructive feedback from Dr. Jinchi and played a critical role in refining my approach, highlighting areas for improvement that ultimately strengthened my research.

    Findings

A key finding from this experience was the importance of attention to detail in research. My mistake of not ensuring that all survey responses were marked as required led to incomplete data, which ultimately tainted my dataset. This oversight required me to collect additional responses, despite already meeting the initial response requirements, demonstrating the need for meticulous double-checking before deploying research instruments. Another finding was the iterative nature of research, which requires constant refinement and the ability to address challenges as they arise. I also realized how early-stage improvements, such as those suggested by Dr. Jinchi, can significantly benefit later stages of research, streamlining processes and improving outcomes. Overall, this module has reinforced the importance of patience, precision, and perseverance in research, equipping me with a stronger foundation for future projects.
